Gaiman's response to the Coraline 2rumors isn't the first time the author has shut down the potential of a follow-up to his novella. Gaiman responded to the rumors, bluntly shutting down the possibility of a follow-up to the 2009 adaptation. One fan recently took to Twitter to ask author Neil Gaiman about a reported Coraline 2 rumor that a sequel movie is set to come out later this year. Produced in stop-motion animation by Laika in their first feature, the film scored largely positive reviews for its faithfulness to its source material and its imaginative visuals, going on to receive both an Oscar and Golden Globe nomination for Best Animated Feature. Coraline was first adapted for the screen in 2009 with The Nightmare Before Christmas' Henry Selick writing, directing and producing with an ensemble cast including Dakota Fanning in the titular role, Teri Hatcher, Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French, Keith David, Ian McShane, John Hodgman and Robert Bailey Jr.
